Kathleen Moran is a Partner at Pease Bell CPAs, where she has been a valued team member since 2007. With nearly two decades of tax experience, Kathleen brings a deep level of technical expertise and client-focused insight to her work, having advanced steadily from Senior Accountant in the Tax Department to her current leadership role.
Her practice focuses on advising clients in the real estate, manufacturing, distribution, and service industries across all 50 states. Kathleen provides strategic guidance on corporate, partnership, and individual taxation, helping clients navigate complex compliance obligations and optimize tax structures. Her deep understanding of federal and state tax regulations, responsiveness to evolving laws, and commitment to collaboration make her a trusted advisor to businesses and individuals alike.
Kathleen is also a key member of the firm’s Transaction Advisory team, where she works closely with clients and their legal and financial advisors on a wide range of mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Her experience includes asset and stock sales and purchases, partnership interest transactions, rollover equity structuring, tax due diligence and structuring analysis, as well as Section 1202 (Qualified Small Business Stock) planning and Section 338(h)(10) and 336(e) elections. She advises both buyers and sellers on the tax implications of deal structure, assists with pre-transaction planning, and ensures efficient post-closing integration of tax positions.
As a Tax Partner, Kathleen is known for her diligence, precision, and client-first mindset. Her strategic insights and ability to interpret tax issues have helped clients make informed decisions that support long-term success.
In addition to client service, Kathleen has contributed to the broader tax profession by serving as an editor for The Tax Adviser’s Tax Clinic editions in 2022 and 2023. She enjoys mentoring junior professionals and actively supports the firm’s tax innovation and advisory initiatives.
Kathleen is a Certified Public Accountant and an active member of both the Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). She earned her Master of Taxation from the University of Akron, her MBA from Cleveland State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from John Carroll University.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Kathleen enjoys traveling and is a passionate long-distance runner. She has completed numerous 5K, 10K, and 5-mile races and continues to set new personal goals in fitness and endurance.
